Mask exporter This new regulation issued by ASTM is relevant to you

In February 2021, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) issued a new mask standard ASTM F3502-2021. This standard is the first standard for protective masks used by ordinary consumers. It aims to control the source by reducing the amount of droplets sprayed from the wearer’s nose and mouth, and at the same time filter particulate matter to reduce the wearer’s inhalation. protection.

1. Performance requirements
Submicron particle filtration efficiency level 1 (PFE) ≥ 20%; level 2 (PFE) ≥ 50%;
Airflow (respiration) resistance: level 1 inhalation ≤15 mm H2O, level 2 inhalation ≤5 mm H2O.

Sub-micron particle filtration efficiency and airflow resistance are classified separately, so there are 4 classification combinations:
Sub-micron particle filtration efficiency and airflow resistance are both Level 1 (minimum performance requirements);
The filtration efficiency of submicron particles is Level 1, and the air flow resistance is Level 2;
The filtration efficiency of submicron particles is Level 2, and the air flow resistance is Level 1;
The filtration efficiency and airflow resistance of sub-micron particles are both Level 2.

2. Structural requirements
Cover at least the user’s face and mouth;
Fit tightly to minimize leakage;
You can choose to use ASTM F3407 for quantitative leak assessment (non-mandatory test);
Prohibit the use of breathing valves;
No sharp edges or burrs on the surface of the mask;
Ear straps or head straps to secure the mask

3. Flammability
When testing according to 16 CFR 1610, the raw material of the mask should meet class 1 or class 2.

Fourth, label requirements
1
The product or packaging label should contain the following information:
Manufacturer name and information;
The specific level of PFE and respiratory resistance (level 1 or level 2), an example of the package label is shown in the figure below;
Mask model and other information
2
Examples of chart packaging labels are as follows:
